Groups & Channels

Groups are for conversations within a defined circle of people; channels are for broadcasting to a wide audience. In WallyMates, both formats come with serious admin tooling — with its own end-to-end encryption for group chats (see the Security page).

Groups

• Topics — Split a group into separate discussion threads by subject — useful in large groups where everything would otherwise blur into one stream.
• Admin roles — Granular permissions: who can add members, delete messages, change the group description — each admin gets their own set of permissions, not an all-or-nothing toggle.
• Admin action log — A full history of admin actions in the group — who changed, deleted, or banned what, and when.
• QR invites — Invite people by showing a QR code — a new member scans it with their camera and joins immediately, no link to paste.
• Group statistics — Member activity, message and join trends — an owner can see whether a community is actually alive.
• Custom group theme — A dedicated color and chat background for one specific group, separate from the app's overall theme.
• Who's online — See how many group members are online right now, without opening each profile individually.
• Group calls — A voice or video call right from the group chat — see the Calls page for details.
• Member management — Bans, message-sending restrictions, and invite links that can be revoked.

Channels

A channel is a one-way broadcast: the owner publishes, subscribers read and react, without group-chat chaos. Works just as well for a small blog for a few friends as for a media outlet with thousands of subscribers.

• Paid subscriptions and donations — A channel can be monetized: a paid subscription for exclusive content, or one-off donations from the audience.
• Scheduled posts — Publish on a schedule — content goes out even while the admin is offline.
• Post analytics — Views, reactions, and reach for every individual post — an owner can see what actually resonates.
• Channel discovery — Public channels can be found through a built-in category catalog, no outside link needed.
• Channel backup — Export a channel's content — nothing is lost for good even if there's a problem with the account.
• Premium channel customization — Exclusive channel styling on PRO — see the PRO & WorldStars page.
• Instant View — Linked articles open instantly, inside the app, with no browser round-trip.
• Comments and reactions — Subscribers can discuss posts underneath them and leave emoji reactions.

Livestreams in channels

Going live in a channel isn't a single checkbox feature — it's real broadcast infrastructure with three different ways to go live, depending on how serious a production you need, and all three are equally available to any channel owner.

• From your phone camera — The simplest option — tap "Go live" right in the Android app and broadcast from your phone's camera, no extra gear or setup.
• From the Windows app — webcam or screen — The desktop client can broadcast from a webcam or share your whole screen (a presentation, a game, your desktop) — switch between them mid-stream without interrupting the broadcast.
• Via OBS Studio — For a more elaborate production (multiple sources, overlays, scene switching), the app hands you dedicated RTMP stream credentials (a server URL and a stream key) — paste them into OBS Studio on your computer, and the broadcast reaches the channel exactly like a direct one would. Available from both Android and Windows.
• A real-time viewer chat — Whatever the broadcast source, viewers see the same stream with a live chat and reactions overlaid on the video.
