Karma

Karma is a user's reputation score in WallyMates. Every "thumbs up" from someone else adds +1, every "thumbs down" subtracts 1. It's not just a number on a profile: high karma pays out WorldStars every week, while very low karma restricts what you can do in channels.

How to rate someone

• Where to rate — On a user's profile — "Like" / "Dislike" buttons, with an optional comment.
• Who you can rate — Only someone you've actually talked to — a private conversation or a shared group. You can't rate a random person you've never contacted.
• Changing or removing a rating — A rating for the same person can be changed no more than once a day; removing your own rating is always allowed.
• You can't rate yourself — The system blocks self-rating — only other people build your karma.

High karma — weekly WorldStars

From 100 karma, WorldStars are paid out every week — the higher the karma, the bigger the payout.

• 100 karma — +3 ⭐/week
• 250 karma — +5 ⭐/week
• 450 karma — +7 ⭐/week
• 600 karma — +10 ⭐/week
• 850 karma — +12 ⭐/week
• 1000 karma — +15 ⭐/week
• 1250 karma — +17 ⭐/week
• 1500 karma — +20 ⭐/week
• 2000 karma — +25 ⭐/week

Low karma — restrictions

• Below −50: a warning — Other users see a low-reputation marker next to your profile — purely visual, nothing is restricted yet.
• Below −100: no replying in channels — You can still post new top-level comments under channel posts, but you can no longer reply to other people's comments.

The trust badge on a profile

Separate from karma, every profile also has a trust badge — calculated from the ratio of likes to dislikes, not the raw count: ✅ Verified (20+ ratings, 80%+ positive), 🟢 Trusted (5+ ratings, 65%+ positive), 🔴 Untrusted (5+ ratings, under 40% positive), 🔵 Neutral for everyone else.

Other badges next to a name

Besides the trust badge (calculated automatically from ratings), a few other, separate markers can appear next to a name — these can't be earned by doing anything in the app; the WallyMates team assigns them:

• Personal account verification tiers — Four levels: a blue ✓ "Verified", a gold ★ "Notable", a green ✓ "Official", and a purple ◆ "Top creator". A separate system from business account verification (see the Business Accounts page).
• Founding member badge — A small teal circle with a ✦ — given to the first 250 users who registered after launch. Stays on the profile permanently.

Anti-abuse protection

• Real contact required — You can only rate someone you've had a private conversation with, or share a group with.
• Account must be 7+ days old — A freshly created account can't rate anyone at all.
• 20 ratings per day limit — Caps mass rating abuse from a single account.
• Cooldown on changing a rating — The same person can only be re-rated once a day.
• WorldStars payout only counts "grown-up" accounts — The weekly Stars calculation only counts votes from accounts 30+ days old — farming karma with fresh accounts earns nothing.
